The Voluptasse Bra Challenge

What is the Voluptasse Bra Challenge you ask. Well, as we know, October is Breast Cancer Awareness month and throughout October i’ll be posting more information about the UK’s most common cancer. As you know, I recently added a whole new range of mastectomy lingerie to the Voluptasse website and as a trained mastectomy lingerie specialist, Breast Cancer is an issue that is very close to my heart.

Not only will you find fun and informative posts throughout the month, but i’ll also be encouraging our readers to fundraise towards research and raising awareness of the different issues affecting anyone dealing with diagnosis. These effects travel as far as family, friends and even the nurses who treat sufferes.

I started my series of awareness posts with an awe-inspiring story from Lisa Farrell who was diagnosed with Breast Cancer at 28 and was kind enough to share her story with Voluptasse. It’s such a powerful read from a girl who I am very proud to call my friend – keep a hankie close to hand though, it’s a tear jerker.

If you have any questions about Breast Cancer of have a topic you’d like to see covered. Please email me at contact@voluptasse.co.uk and i’ll be happy to help.

If you’d like a Mastectomy Bra fitting, please telephone or email me to make your appointment.

Tell me about Breast Cancer

Did you know that 49, 936 women and 349 men were diagnosed with breast cancer in in the UK 2011? That’s over 130 people per day. Breast Cancer doesn’t discriminate between the sexes so it’s really important that men check their breast tissue too.

Although breast cancer diagnosis have been steadily increasing since the 1970’s, both women and men are now 90% more likely to beat the disease thanks to advances in medicine, improved breast education and better screening. However, it is imperative that cancer is caught early in order to give the best chance of survival.

In 2012 around 11,675 men and women died from breast cancer with 10% of those deaths occurring in those under the age of 50.

What can we do to help?

Voluptasse is starting the month with a campaign to raise awareness of breast cancer. For the Voluptasse Bra Challenge, we are asking our readers to take a selfie wearing a bra outside of their shirt and upload the picture to Facebook or Twitter with the hashtag #voluptassebrachallenge. Text a donation to Cancer Research UK by texting the word BEAT to 70200 and upload that too.

On the 31st October we’ll look through all the hashtag entries and our favourite selfie wins a £25 gift voucher to spend on anything at the www.voluptasse.co.uk website.

The aim of the campaign is to help raise awareness of Breast Cancer and to raise some desperately needed funds to aid lifesaving research. I wanted to do something fun and lighthearted but ensure that it delivers a powerful message too.

And here it is….. the first picture

Both men and women are welcome to take the challenge. Why not take your selfie somewhere fun and exciting to make sure that it really stands out. Once you’ve uploaded your picture, nominate 3 friends to take part too.

Good luck!

Mel MacFarlane
