The Erotic Trade Only Show 2015

I have always enjoyed the Erotic Trade Only show and this year was better than ever! Not only did I have a Bloggers stand with the lovely and very talented Cara Sutra, but I also had tickets for my first ever awards ceremony too.

Kris (my long-suffering husband) and I arrived bright and early on the Sunday morning to a beautiful BlogSpot stand which had been put together by Cara, Darren and Kev Blisse the day earlier whilst we were travelling down from Blackburn. The stand looked absolutely amazing and I was really proud to be a part of it.

Despite his initial misgivings about wearing a pink Voluptasse lanyard, Kris threw himself into the day’s activities and we swiftly got to work helping to put the last few items into the huge goody bags (sacks!) for our lovely writers.

I’d also like to thank those generous companies who contributed to the wonderful BlogSpot goody bags. It isn’t often that bloggers are recognised for the hard work that they do so Cara, Kev and I were deeply touched by their generosity.

Thank you so much to the following companies for their generous donations:

Baci lingerie, Cara Sutra, ElectraStim, F Dot Leonora, Gritty Woman, Helen J Perry, LELO, Lucy Felthouse, Nexus Range, Pasante, Pjur, Rebecca Lowrie, Rocks Off, Romp n Roar, Seven til Midnight, Sh Women’s Store, Simply Pleasure, Simply Sutra, Smut UK, The Raunchier Side, Uber Kinky, Victoria Blisse, Voluptasse

The BlogSpot Stand at the Erotic Trade Only Show

The blogging area has been a regular feature at previous ETO shows, but this year Cara and I approached the organisers of the show with an idea for something a little different.

The BlogSpot stand was created to provide a comfortable for writers during the ETO exhibition. We wanted a one-stop-shop for bloggers to relax and a place where companies to ask advice about the services that a writer can offer. During the technical and background development of BlogSpot, I wasn’t really much use other than a third opinion. My role at BlogSpot involved more face to face speaking and giving advice during the show, which I absolutely love to do.

The stand was buzzing with visitors from the minute the doors opened to the second they closed on the Monday. The feedback from the show was really positive and so many people felt that they had made some great connections and learned something new about blogging.

It was great fun to have our fellow BlogSpotters Kev Blisse and Victoria Blisse stopping by for both days, in addition to the beautiful Hella Rude, The Big Gay Review, Justin Decerous Mistress Victoria from UberKinky and Horny Geek Girlwho offered her services for both days too.

I was really impressed with the exhibitions and enthralled by the H2O vibrator from a Drop of Sweden. It was a fascinating vibrator which shoots a stream of water directly at the clitoris.  It went straight to the top of my Christmas list!

The Roller Banners at the Erotic Trade Only Show

The Roller banners, designed by Kev Blisse, were a great success and very much admired by our BlogSpot visitors over the two days at ETO.

I’d like to thank all the companies and writers who placed an advertisement on the banner for their support at the Erotic Trade Only Show.

The Erotic Trade Only Show Awards Ceremony

We were lucky enough to receive tickets from the lovely people at Pasante and we couldn’t have asked for better company. We shared the table with Dave Strutt, Ryan Morlen and Paul Tudor from Pasante, William and Andrew from the fabulous Doxy Massager company and a lovely couple from Holland who made their living RENTING sex toys in the 70’s (Yes, renting!). It was such a diverse and interesting mix of people and it was a great night.

After a delicious 3 course meal and lots of laughter, the atmosphere in the room began to change as Dale Bradford and Lee Schofield took to the stage…

The awards were about to begin.

Winners

If you don’t want to know who the winners are until you read the August issues of ETO Magazine, look away now.  What I will tell you is, that there was some very (ahem) stiff competition and each winning award was very well deserved.

Another thing that I really liked, was the comraderie in the room. Despite being pipped to an award, everyone clapped as hard as they could and there was a genuine warmth directed at all the winners.

I would like to personally congratulate my lovely friend (and usually mentor) Cara Sutra on the third consecutive ETO award for Best Journalist. It was a pleasure for me and Kris to watch her collect the award after knowing how hard she works for it. Despite being incredibly busy, she makes time for so many people and has helped me immensely over the years (just don’t mention anything in Latin…)

There was also a surprise win for a couple seated at our table. Doxy massager picked up the brand new ‘Best use of Social Media’ award for their Ecstatic Recipes feature which is hilarious! If you haven’t seen it, you need to look for it on YouTube.

It was also lovely to spend time with the beautiful Brit Babes, Lily Harlem, Tabitha Rayne and Lexie Bay over the complimentary Prosecco and later, strutting our stuff on the dance floor. I also shared a celebratory glass of champers with the lovely Renee from Sh! Women’s Erotic Emporium before we all hit the floor with an amazing BritPop band.

My Northern friends know that you’ll usually find me camped in the corner of a local pub, arms flailing as I wildly dance but I believe my funky moves raised a few eyebrows on the night… although I can’t think why….

Afterwards, the party continued at the Crown Plaza before we made our way back to our hotel room at the Ramada Encore. Luckily for us, we had a really nice taxi driver because I left my card in the taxi and he kindly returned it for us. It would have been very awkward if we were unable to pay the hotel the next day… oops!

Day Two of the Erotic Trade Only Show

The second day of the show was much quieter, sore heads were nursed but spirits were high and awards were proudly placed in full view. Kris and I spent some time chatting with the lovely Lulu from Rocks Off who happily posed with their Best Pleasure Brand award and showed us the beautiful new Rocks Off designs.

We also vestured over to the Doxy Stand to peruse the amazing Skittle vibrator which was so powerful that it actually paralysed my hand and chatted with Vic from the Cara Sutra Collection.

I spent time chatting with a very nice LoveHoney representative who very kindly replaced my Sqweel Go after I’d lost the charger and couldn’t find a replacement. I also got some great products to review from the Gary at Nalone and a gorgeous body stocking from Pleaser that I can’t wait to put on. It was spotted being worn by one of the beautiful models walking around the show, but I have a feeling it won’t have the same effect on me.

A woman can dream though, cant she?

The Grand Raffle

Just before 4pm the winner of the grand raffle was plucked randomly from the bowl by myself and Cara. We picked out Kinky Kitten Kim, a new(ish) blogger who’d called in to see us on Sunday and entered the raffle. The information was quickly forwarded to her and she was over the moon with her huge prize.

I’d like to thank all those who contributed to the grand prize too. It was a huge treat for the winner and without the generosity of all the companies involved it just wouldn’t have been possible. The overall total was over 1,000 and this total just kept growing.

Amazing O, Esensual Books, Give Lube, Kinky Monkey, LELO, Nexus Range, Rocks Off, Sex Toys Flesh, Sexhibition, Simply Pleasure, Smut UK, Tabitha Rayne, The Brit Babes, The Cara Sutra Collection, The Cara Sutra Shop, The Raunchier Side

The perfect end to the day was being called back over to the BlogSpot stand and presented with a bottle of vintage Champagne by Jacinta from the ETO team. My business card had been picked from the ETO raffle! Whoop!

Once the show was over it was a mad dash to say our goodbyes and pack up until next year. Before leaving we had a hilarious chat with Dom StrapOn who managed to silence my husband with just one sentence. It was one of the best moments of my life!!

It’s safe to say that the BlogSpot was a great success for the writers and I hope that the retailers enjoyed it as much as we did.

Thank you so much to everyone involved.
