Review of the Forever Aloe Berry Nectar Gel
Everyone knows that I am a really strong sceptic of all these multi-level selling health kicks. I’ve lost lifelong friends over my disagreement that drinks filled with ‘essences’ of fruit and vegetables can be better than the real thing (Yes, she was THAT mad at me) and I much prefer the more natural and cheaper method of real fruit and veg.
With this in mind, I laughed when my friend Leanne handed me the Forever Aloe Berry Nectar Gel. It was at a time when 5 kids and 15 hour working days were taking a serious toll on my health. I looked terrible, felt terrible and my body was in a serious stress mode. My periods were erratic and my skin was dull and lifeless. Although the meals I make for the family are usually homemade and from scratch, I binge on sweets, chocolate and coffee throughout the day which is probably due to my hectic lifestyle and chronic sweet tooth…. However, Leanne swore that the gel would help me and I agreed to give it a try.
I was given a litre of the Forever Aloe Berry Nectar Gel for free in return for an honest and unbiased review of the product. I agreed to try it for a month and report on the effect it had on my skin and personal well-being.
Before I start the review, I would like to point out that I am not affiliated with the Forever Company. I do not sell or distribute their products and will make no money from any sales made as a result of this review.
What the Forever Aloe Berry Nectar Gel?
The Forever Aloe Berry Nectar Gel contains:
Stabilized Aloe Vera Gel, Fructose, Natural Cranberry and Apple Juice Concentrates (Flavours), Sorbitol, Ascorbic Acid (Antioxidant), Citric Acid, Potassium Sorbate (To Help Protect Flavour), Sodium Benzoate (To Help Protect Flavour), Xanthan Gum, Tocopherol (Antioxidant)
As a consumer, none of this really makes much sense to me. However, from my research I can see that the flavours in the gel are natural, with fructose added to sweeten the gel slightly. According to the website, the Forever Company is the world’s largest grower, manufacturer and distributor of Aloe products. The manufacturers add ingredients to the home grown Aloe in order to create their range of health care products instead of adding small amounts of Aloe to a range of ingredients, so it all centres around this natural product if that makes sense?
From what I can see on the website, it looks like a reputable company and I like their no nonsense approach. They are cruelty free and offer a 60 day satisfaction guarantee. If you aren’t satisfied by the product in 60 days you can get your money back and that’s how confident they are about their Forever range.
What does the Forever Aloe Berry Nectar Gel do?
Hailed as one of the most nutritional supplements around, Aloe Vera gel contains 19 of 20 proteins needed by the body and seven of the eight essential ones that can’t be produced naturally. It also contains lots of B-group vitamins, vitamin C, vitamin E and folic acid. Many of these vitamins cannot be stored by the body so we need to regularly top them up from the food and drink that we take in.
Some of the minerals contained in in Aloe Vera are calcium, sodium, potassium, iron, chromium, magnesium, manganese, copper and zinc. They work with specific substances found in Aloe, such as Salicylic Acid which helps to relieve muscles and maintain healthy joints, mobility and flexibility.
For skin, which interested me the most because I am incredibly vain, Fibroblasts are specialised cells found in the skin. Their job is to produce fibre like collagen and elastin. These fibres give the skin its structure and make it more plump and elastic. Aloe helps to enhance the way these fibres are created so your skin looks younger and plumper.
Aloe Vera Gel also offers the vital nutrition to nourish skin cells. Therefore, the skin stays healthy and is able to perform its vital functions more effectively – as well as looking healthier and younger. This is addition to other properties which boost immunity and maintaining a health digestive tract. Overall, it sounds like a really interesting product.
Storage and Dosage
I was advised to keep the Forever Aloe Berry Nectar Gel in the fridge as it is a fresh product. The dosage is just a shot glass (approx 20 – 30ml) of the gel before breakfast every day. The drink tastes just like cranberry juice and you can see the Aloe in the gel before you drink it. Because there are small bits in the drink, I always give the tub a good shake before opening every morning.
My experience with the Forever Aloe Berry Nectar Gel
As I said earlier, I was in a pretty bad way when I started the Forever Aloe Berry Nectar Gel. I work long hours and this puts my health under a lot of stress. I was diagnosed with stress related acne so my skin is prone to severe breakouts and as my sleeping pattern is very erratic as I suffer from insomnia. My skin is dull, lifeless and has a tendency to become puffy under my eyes. To combat this, I do try to drink a lot of water and rely on skin creams to help with the wrinkles.
As you can see from the awful picture in week one, my skin is tired and I have HUGE bags under my eyes. I carried on my normal skin cleansing routine and continued to drink approx 2 litres of water a day. I made no changes to my diet and continued to work my regular hours. I had a shot every morning before breakfast and it tasted really nice.
For the first week I felt very little change to my energy levels. However, I did see that my skin looked brighter and my puffy eyes were beginning to reduce.
On the first day of week two I had two friends comment on how much better my skin looked. One even said that I looked less gaunt and more awake. I could see that my skin looked brighter and the compliments I was receiving were a real boost to my confidence.
It was during week three that I began to feel an increase in my energy levels. Where I would normally be lagging and working through a fog of tiredness, I felt more alert and much more enthusiastic about the day ahead. My moods began to improve and my concentration was better. Because of this, I was still working but I felt more effective and as a result, less stressed about tasks.
This week highlighted a lot of important changes for me. I realised that I hadn’t had a pimple for the whole four weeks that I had been taking the Forever Aloe Berry Nectar Gel. This is from a woman who was diagnosed with acne over a year ago! Also, the eczema on my arms and legs is begnning to clear up.
This was also the first time in approximately six months that I’d had a regular period. As I said earlier they were very erratic and becoming increasingly heavy and painful. I was back to normal and I couldn’t believe it!
My energy levels are still high and I’m feeling great. A lot of people are noticing the difference in my skin and I’m feeling so much better about myself.
I put the Forever Aloe Berry Nectar Gel down as just another ‘fad’ and had to seriously eat my words. It’s a product that I really like and my second tub is already on order. Four weeks after starting the gel my skin looks great and I feel so much better. That tells me everything I need know about the effect it is having on my overall health.
I’m not a health professional and I know that my lifestyle needs a complete overhaul in the long term but I know that I feel healthier. I was shocked when I looked through the pictures of myself, especially four weeks ago and it was upsetting to see how horrible I looked when I started the review. There is still a long way for me to go but as a long term option, I will be looking to continue with the gel because I absolutely love it. Also, look at the pictures!
The tub costs £20.80 for 1 litre and at the time of writing I had around a third of the tub left to drink so I think it’s pretty good value for money.
